We have purchased Hondas for 30 years. We are lucky to have Lincoln Honda as the dealer in our city. Service is always great and would not consider any other make or dealer. In retrospect this was not a great experience. I came in with a very specific intent to pay the car off immediately through the American Express program. After hours of gobbledegook I found myself talked o with a very specific intent to pay the car off immediately through the American Express program. After hours of gobbledegook I found myself talked out of that intent. "We really prefer that we finance at least for three months." "OK, Can I then pay it off with my American Express, I want the mileage points?" "Don't see why not." Then, after an exhausting three hours of trying to wade through it all, I go see Calvin at Finance who sells me an expensive maintenance package that seems necessary (I guess it's a $5000 bet that the car I'm buying for Honda reliability will fall apart soon enough to make it worth my while) and he tells me "Don't know about the American Express thing, You'll have to call national -- the same to pay off the car with cash." So now I can look forward to more negotiations with the Honda big guys. Hours later, it's evening and I realize that with the new deal and the added expense of the maintenance,I should have negotiated a large down payment to reduce the monthly payments so I could spread things out more, but no-one even brought up that possibility and I was too exhausted to have thought of it at the time. I call the next day - but too late, it's been submitted I'm stuck with the deal. At this point, although I'm sorry I ever bought the darn car, but I don't blame anyone but myself for being incompetent. And while I hate having spent a day that ends with me hating my own lack of savvy, I won't downgrade the guys who worked with me - they have to make a living too. I was just a fool for not showing up prepared for all eventualities and/or sticking to the deal I wanted.. I'm a 76 year old nationally published comic book artist and I plan to try pitching this whole comedy of errors to AARP as a two page spread in their magazine. More

Went in to the dealer already knowing I wanted a Honda Fit. Started working with Erica. She was very friendly and helpful. Did the test drive. Then decided I was going to move forward.
