The issue continued, and when I returned in November, the mechanic confirmed the oil seals needed replacing, noting this is a common issue with 2022 Tiguans. I was told parts were ordered and booked in for January 5, 2026, which was later moved to January 19 due to a parts delay. When I arrived on January 19, there was clear confusion about why I was there — staff thought I was in for diagnostics only, and I had to provide previous diagnostic information myself. I was also given conflicting information about missing parts and the availability of a loaner vehicle, despite being told previously this was a three-day repair with a loaner. I spoke with Ian (Manager), who said he wanted to make it right and would follow up the next day, but I did not receive that follow-up. Since then, I have spoken with Melissa and Tyler in the service department, with repeated promises of communication that were not followed through. This is a warranty-covered repair, and the ongoing delays, miscommunication, and lack of follow-up have been extremely frustrating. I hope management addresses these issues so future customers have a better experience. More

This is not your local small-town Owen Sound Volkswagen dealer anymore. We had to walk away from our deal because it was clear we could not trust this dealership. We dealt with Mark Irwin, Usman Akbar, and dealer anymore. We had to walk away from our deal because it was clear we could not trust this dealership. We dealt with Mark Irwin, Usman Akbar, and Rafael Sikorski. We had a very concerning experience at this dealership where a $4,320 GAP insurance policy was added to our agreement without our consent, and financing options were misrepresented by Usman Akbar. They removed the GAP policy after we caught it and called it an “accident,” but then we were shocked to see that Usman added it again when it came time to sign the new agreement. Originally, we made an agreement in writing with Mark Irwin before coming in that we were paying $42,205 all-in (including HST) for a brand new 2026 Tiguan Trendline (black). We were guaranteed it would not cost more. Mark pressured us into taking financing when we came in, which was not a requirement for us. Mark admitted the dealership gets a commission if we finance. We agreed to finance a portion of the deal to help them out around Christmas. The favour was returned to us by the dealership by adding a $4,320 GAP insurance policy into the financing that we did not consent to, removing it when caught, and then attempting to re-add it again when it came time to sign the amended deal. Usman then stated that they would leave the GAP policy included in the loan, cancel the policy on pickup, and issue a cheque to be paid to the loan amount. Even if they did keep their word and paid the policy off on the loan, this would have inflated the loan amount, caused us to have higher loan payments for the entire term of the loan, and added unnecessary risk to us with no benefit to us. Usman Akbar also misrepresented VW Finance payment terms. Usman stated that monthly payment frequency is not possible with any VW Finance loans and that they only allow bi-weekly payments. He told us that we could simply update the loan to monthly after the first payment came out. This was confirmed to be false by VW Finance directly, and they told us that if we had followed the dealership’s direction, we would have been locked into bi-weekly payments for the entire loan. When it was clear that we could not trust these guys, we decided to walk away from the deal. Getting the $1,000 deposit back required threatening an OMVIC formal complaint. We contacted the parent company (401 Auto Group) to let them know about what was happening at their Owen Sound Volkswagen dealership, and instead of responding, they had Rafael Sikorski respond, who directly oversaw the deal in the first place. Rafael did not address any of the concerns and instead took it as an opportunity to attempt to salvage the sale by offering $200 off the vehicle. We are now proceeding with a formal OMVIC complaint for the unauthorized GAP insurance policy, the re-addition of the policy after it was brought to their attention, and the misrepresentation regarding VW Finance payment terms. Update: Volkswagen Canada is now withdrawing payments from our bank account for a deal with Owen Sound Volkswagen that was explicitly cancelled. The loan has been fully funded and is appearing on our credit report, despite the deal being cancelled, the deposit being refunded, and us never taking delivery of the vehicle. Be very careful with this dealership. If you recently purchased from them, I would go over your paperwork again just to confirm they did not slip something into the agreement. More

Needless to say, the interior can start to look a little neglected as well. I decided to bite the bullet and treat my VW to a silver-level detailing at Owen Sound Volkswagen. The service tech told me that my 2015 Jetta would look like new, but I put this down to a routine line of chat. My cynicism was put firmly in it's place, however, when I was introduced to a car that looked like it just rolled off of the assembly line! Even that easily-smudged cloth panel on the inside of my driver's door looked brand new! It wasn't until my key actually fit in the ignition that I knew for certain that this was indeed my car and not a showroom model. As you can read, this experience impressed me. If you are looking to rejuvenate your car's interior/exterior, Owen Sound VW's detailers won't disappoint. Thank you! OSV is a smaller, family-owned dealership that may not have an artisinal eatery and gourmet coffee bar, but it's friendly, efficient, and customer oriented. A slight hyper-car-driac, I find the service staff to be particularly patient and persistent in getting to the bottom of an issue, no matter how illusive. It's easy to see that OSV has built up a loyal customer base - people are greeted warmly (usually by name), by owners, management, and front-line staff. The people I have chatted with in the waiting area come from all over to get OSV's personalized, quality service. This dealership has my gratitude and can look forward to my continued patronage. More
