I purchased a low-km 2004 BMW 545i and it turned into one of the worst financial decisions I’ve ever made. Repairs quickly surpassed the purchasing price(9k saftied), I’m roughly $20,000 into this vehicle, a of the worst financial decisions I’ve ever made. Repairs quickly surpassed the purchasing price(9k saftied), I’m roughly $20,000 into this vehicle, and after years of problems I finally threw it away and bought a reliable car to stop the bleeding. What made the experience even worse was dealing with the dealer and Redline. I repeatedly brought the car in for the same unresolved issues, especially a serious starting problem I warned them about for over a year through at least five separate inspections. To this day, the issue was never properly diagnosed or fixed. Instead, I was constantly charged for inspections, vague explanations, and unrelated repairs that never addressed the actual problems I brought the car in for. I easily spent over a thousand dollars on inspections alone while being led in circles with “possible” causes and theoretical issues instead of real answers. Every time I picked the car up, the same problems were still there. On top of that, there were repeated attempts to tack on extra charges and work I never requested. It became obvious very quickly that customer service and actually solving problems were not the priority, getting more money out of the customer was. This experience completely destroyed my trust in BMW ownership. These cars are massively over-engineered, unreliable money pits, and the support network around them profits from keeping them on the road just long enough to drain your wallet further. I would strongly advise anyone considering an older BMW or dealing with these businesses to think twice. My experience was endless repairs, endless bills, and almost no accountability. If I spent this amount of money with any other repair shop there would be some level of loyalty and id have a brand new engine in my car for the price. I’ll never be able to look at a BMW again without seeing immaturity, insecurity, and a complete lack of common sense behind the badge. More
