I had my vehicle in for service due to a noise. Received a call that the truck was all ready to go. I asked the caller what had come of the diagnostics and was told I needed a new rear differential Received a call that the truck was all ready to go. I asked the caller what had come of the diagnostics and was told I needed a new rear differential. This was quite the shocker as it's a very uncommon issue for a vehicle that's under 6 years old. I asked for additional information but nothing was provided at the time. When I went to pick up the vehicle I again asked if there was someone I could speak to to get more information about that $5000 estimate that was given to me. At that time another employee at the desk replied 'it's an internal failure of the differential, there's nothing else to say'. I asked if there was any idea what could have led to such an uncommon issue and the reply was 'it's an internal failure, no idea what happened, there's nothing else to say'. No eye contact was made with me and I felt as though asking for additional information was incredibly burdensome. We will be having another garage look at the truck and give their opinion (which is hopefully more in depth then what I received at the Toyota dealership) and will be seriously considering replacing this vehicle in the coming months. I would be very hesitant to replace my vehicle with another Toyota in the future based not only on my experience with the service center but with the magnitude of this rear differential issue. Between my husband, myself and our parents we have owned 7 Toyotas in the last 15 years so this is very unfortunate not only for us but for your future sales. More
