Unfortunately, the nozzles of my windshield washer broke. - Robin Hood
Unfortunately, the nozzles of my windshield washer broke.
I need new ones.
I went to the Dodge dealership and asked for quote how much it would cost to replace this two nozzles.
I got the quote and I was shocked.
1 nozzle = $113.35
The total was $320.82 incl. tax
A little bit a lot, don’t you think so?
I went home, opened the website of MOPAR, the official company for Dodge parts, which also supplies this dealership with wholesale prices for parts and discovered that the same nozzle would cost me only $64.14 if I would order them online.
Hm???????????????? Less than the half?????!!!!!!!
So, I ordered at MOPAR. The original replacement parts for less than the half.
I went to the dealership and let them know that I feel uncomfortable to place the order and asked if I can talk to the manager.
After my explanations why I will not be a customer anymore he explained me that they are a business, and they have to make money and the mark up (I call it rip off) is up to them.
Having a sustainable mark up is ok, but this is too much.
After that, I mentioned that I would like to share my experience on social media.
This manager brought me politely to the door and threatened me, if I do so, he will send me his lawyers to sue me for defamation of character.
He can try. I am not making a false statement when I am writing about what happened. I have proofs. No false statement.
I actually congratulate this manager to his successful business model. It just didn’t work with me.
BTW. After what happened I went to another dealer ship in the Valley and asked for another quote. They would have charged me even less than MOPAR. Only $64.04 per nozzle.
I am happy that I have compared prices.
