Terrible service. - Miguelv
Terrible service. DO NOT TRUST THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT.
They replaced a battery just over two years ago. Before that battery replacement, the battery was doing OK but two very cold winters beat it down to much.
Ever since getting the battery replaced, I have had to boost my car as soon as the temperature dropped below -15 C. The first winter I couldn't keep my battery in my car if the temperature was below -15 c or else my car wouldn't start. It made mornings horrible. Then this winter again, the first drop below -15c killed the battery again. It wouldn't not start, so I brought it into south point in November. Figured ok, I've delt with this long enough, they must have installed a lemon. But toyota determined I still have a good, healthy battery. So they refused to do anything besides charge it.
Again, the temperature was going to drop below -20, so I was prepared and removed my battery and just didn't use my car for those two weeks. Thank God my wife's car has had zero issue starting. I placed my battery into the car when the temperature was back around -10, connected it and drove around for the day. The temperature didn't drop below -10 that night, but guess who's battery once again didn't start? Yup, you guessed it.
So I bring it in again, in February, my wife is 8 months pregnant and we need a reliable car. Toyota finally tell me, "Oh, the battery is now at 40%, but you no longer are fully covered by our insurance so you have to pay."
So not only did they not replace it the first time I brought it in with the same issue, but they then forced me to wait until after the warranting expired before admitting there was an issue. And their excuse for why I can't use my car in the winter time is that:
1) apparently you have to start your car and drive it daily, or else it will not turn on if you miss a day
And,
2) because my command start in draining power (keep in mind, this is a command start they installed back when we got the car from the dealership)
But, not only did they install the command start, but everywhere online says a command start draining a battery is a myth as long as the command start was installed properly. Now, considering that the command start wasn't an issue before the new battery, I'm going to go ahead and assume they are lying xxx.
Do not use South point Toyota. They are crooks.
