My Review of Okotoks Honda:
I had been shopping for a newer vehicle for well over a year. In mid April, I hit a deer (my car was deemed a total loss), which added some urgency to the car shopping process.
Over the course of a year or more, I had had a pretty good taste of most of the salesman/dealership pitches, angles, pressure, tricks - even out and out lies. Unfortunately, I have to say that shopping on my own as a female, seemed to be an invitation for the condescention and patronization that accompanies the salesman stereotype.
I found the vehicle I was later to purchase on Autotrader.ca. The price of the car was far less than that of the same car (with more miles, lower trim) at other dealerships. In addition, the car (an '08 Honda Civic EXL), had less than 36,000 km and was in like new condition. Unable to find the same kind of deal in my home city of Red Deer (as well as having had some bad shopping experiences here), I decided to drive to Okotoks.
Though the car looked good on the internet, I really did not want to deal with another salesman. I started the fair trip from Red Deer, tense from the thought of what I imagined I would encounter.
Arriving at Okotoks Honda (I had worked myself into an almost hostile state on the way down), I felt armed and ready fight the 'war of wit's' with a salesman. I am sure this was apparent when I met my salesman, Ryan.
Ryan was quick to disarm me; he demonstrated a genuineness that I had never experienced with someone selling cars. Not only was he friendly and accommodating (and all the other good saleman things), but he was very knowledgeabe - and, dare I say .... honest! (Every sales outfit needs to know that if the customer feels they are being delivered the straight goods - they will be far more inclined to buy.)
To make a rather long story short, I purchased the vehicle I had come to look at - sans the manipulation and pressure that usually accompanies the deal. Ryan was honest, forthright, and I felt that he wanted to get me a 'good deal' (important to me!)
I met with Brad to work out financing, and a couple of days later, Kevin. Both of these men were very professional, and made every effort to go through and explain all items relating to the purchase of my car. (Kevin was quite funny! - Brad was great in getting back to me regarding questions et al.)
In a nutshell, shopping here was a most excellent experience!! In addition to having a great experience with Ryan and the business managers, I was also contacted by the owner of the dealership, Rahim, who personally thanked me for my business.
I will definately, recommend this dealership (and Ryan) to my friends.
