dtrager, we apologize that you felt over charged during your recent service visit. We’d like to learn a bit more regarding what pre-paid packages you have and what service you were having done so we can speak to the delta in the expense compared to what you were anticipating. Since we cannot reference you in our systems under “dtrager”, we invite you to contact our Service Manager, Daniel Adams directly at DAdams@mbplano.com or 214-547-2877. Daniel is up to date on your feedback and available to assist and provide clarity on the programs and costs. Talk soon. Take care. Best wishes!https://www.dealerrater.com/dp/15730/reviews#

AngryCarOneBuyer, first and foremost, we appreciate that you are so loyal to the Mercedes-Benz brand having purchased six and currently owning three. This would be a very different narrative if you serviced all your Mercedes-Benz vehicles at a certified dealership. We can imagine how frustrating it is to receive a diagnosis such as the one you described on your 2022 GLC and can empathize with your frustration regarding the situation you are in. That said, we did want to point out a few things that you’ve noted but we felt deserved to be reiterated. First, the GLC 300 was not purchased here at Mercedes-Benz of Plano and since has not been serviced here either (or at any MB dealership from your notes). You noted that due to cost, you have had the vehicle serviced elsewhere. This does add to the issue as we (Mercedes-Benz dealers) do not cover warrantied repair expense - the manufacturer does. We must get all work pre-approved in order to be compensated by Mercedes-Benz USA. Thus, it would be impossible for us to self-authorize a repair where the car wasn’t purchased OR serviced from us or by us at any point in your ownership. We wish there was more we could do on our end, but as you noted, you intentionally purchased and serviced elsewhere and then expected us to pick up the tab when the vehicle was formally and legally outside of the manufacturer warranty window where they may assist. Mercedes-Benz USA likely would have participated in the repair had you serviced the vehicle at regular intervals with any certified Mercedes-Benz franchise service center. You mention that the cost of service is higher at dealerships, which we acknowledge - but it is situations like the one you’re in that warrant the extra expense, so that the manufacturer and dealer can stand up to assist you if things go wrong (even just outside of warranty). We wish there was more we can do and absolutely understand your frustration, but without a certified Mercedes-Benz shop providing maintenance history, the manufacturer is not going to assist us or any other dealer to resolve the issue. If you are interested in trading the vehicle as-is, we could discuss assisting to get you the most for the car in the current condition, but unfortunately, our hands are tied in regard to covering the cost of the needed repairs. If you’d like to discuss this additionally, our Service Manager, Daniel Adams would be happy to chat and you may reach Daniel directly at DAdams@MBPlano.com or 214-547-2877. We wish you the best.

Dan, we’re sorry that you were frustrated that our service team could not turn off the service light without completing the full service interval. Unfortunately, this is a policy of Mercedes-Benz that we are not allowed to turn the light off without completing the entire service. All Mercedes-Benz dealerships should abide by this rule or ultimately can face penalties. We wish that we could do this for you and other customers, but this is Mercedes-Benz’s way of ensuring that vehicles have had proper service to retain warranty and longevity over time. If you have questions or concerns about this policy, you may reach out to our Service Manager, Daniel Adams directly at DAdams@mbplano.com or 214-547-2877. Daniel has read your note and would be happy to chat with you. Take care. Best wishes!

So be it, but the service at 7500 miles would have resulted in a check list of items not needing immediate attention. I was there to purchase a car. I'll buy it from the dealer in Gilbert AZ where I purchased my current car. Talked to European Imports in Grapevine and they'll take care of my car and the service light. I had an appointment yesterday at 12:30 and had to wait 15 minutes for service writer and then was told it was a 2 hour wait. Horrible service and you lost a sale.
