It was a pleasant experience buying a used vehicle from Massey Cadillac. YOU WILL WANT TO READ THIS. This can save you $$$$$$$ If you deal with this dealership, beware of the following ways they can violate your rights and try to deceive you:This de This can save you $$$$$$$ If you deal with this dealership, beware of the following ways they can violate your rights and try to deceive you:This dealership violates privacy and consumer laws. I gave direct instruction to only run an application with one specific bank and reiterated it in writing TWICE. They failed to comply and ran with another bank as well. They seem to think that this kind of violation can be gotten away with by saying "sorry". IMPORTANT - A WORD ON FINANCING. When we submitted a credit application, we got a text back with a payment amount, NO INTEREST RATE, NO APR (in violation of the Truth in Lending Act). The payments seemed very high to me, and I was shocked to not see the interest rate. The rep, Melinda Edwards, said "it actually seems very good to me". Really? Seems good to me? what about rate disclosure lol. We called the bank they applied with and asked to get details on that application and were told that we were approved for a monthly payment of $1531. Contrast that with the payment of $1676 that the dealership quoted me "from the same bank" IT TURNS OUT THE DEALERSHIPS CAN MARK UP FINANCING CHARGES. California has a statutory limit for those markups. Florida doesn't!This dealership was going to charge us $145 per month for 72 months. That's $10,440. When I confronted them on this, they dropped the monthly payment to $1550. I spoke to an attorney who said those are serious violations (unauthorized credit running, not disclosing APR) and they should make it right with me by compensating me (give a discount on a car). Come on, they just tried to put $10,440 on top of already high finance charges (oh and by the way, if you then go to that same bank, they tell you that your application is bound with that dealership, so you CANNOT get a rate you were actually approved for by the bank without the dealership dropping their finance charges) LESSON HERE: If you have good credit, arrange your financing outside the dealership, especially this one that doesn't shy away from seriously ripping you off. ($145 per month - seriously?) And we, consumers, still think dealers make money on actually selling the car lol (If you want to see screen shots with relevant parts of the conversation, check my google review, they allow attaching photos) More
