Worst service ever. Incompetent people from service advisor, mechanic to service manager. Decided to go there for a transmission service with my Toyota Highlander. Service advisor told me they are advising me against the service since the dealership recommends the service at 104,000 km and my car already had 108,000 km and they would not be responsible if something goes wrong with my transmission?? When I asked what could happen, I was told that "sometimes the gears don't like if you put new transmission fluid in" - the stupidest thing I have ever heard. The guy doesn't have a clue about lubrication basics. I insisted, so they went ahead with the service. Before the service I had no issue with the transmission, it was shifting like new. After the service shifting was rough, there was an audible clang and whistling sound between shifts. These things were not there before the service. Realizing that it is pointless to go back to Oakville Toyota, I decided to investigate myself. I jacked up the car to a level position, warmed up the transmission fluid to a 104 deg. Fahrenheit and open the plug on the pan just like it says in the manual. When the fluid level is correct, there should be a small trickle at the most. To my surprise, I drained 1.5L of fluid. Not only did the mechanic overfill the transmission, I think he never bothered to drain the old fluid, since the color was brown instead of the cherry red new fluid should be. I wasted $200 and my time on this service and in the end I had to do it myself and spend another $60 + on transmission fluid. I had a hard time removing the fill plug because the mechanic had rounded off the hex, meaning I will have to pay for a new fill plug out-of-pocket too. After completing the service myself, all the transmission issues disappeared and it shifts just like before I took it to Oakville Toyota. I am glad that I checked the transmission before any damage was done, as it would cost me thousands of $$$$. I wrote an email to the service manager, he replied that he will look into it and get in touch with me by the end of the day. That was a month ago and have not heard from him since. What a crappy service from top to bottom. I will never go back again!!! More
