Great experience I purchased my new to me vehicle at Downtown Hyundai after my car was written off an accident. I had not been planning to purchase a new vehicle but I purchased my new to me vehicle at Downtown Hyundai after my car was written off an accident. I had not been planning to purchase a new vehicle but found myself in need of a new one quickly. I described what I was looking for and was shown vehicles matching my needs. Chan and his manager Malcolm offered me incredible customer service throughout the entire process of purchasing my new vehicle. I would definitely return and recommend Downtown Hyundai to anyone in the market for a new vehicle. More

We would like to specially thank David Shafir, not only a good sales person, also a very nice person. We could tell he loves what he does. Thank you David for making this experience smooth. Downtown Hyundai offered us a great service. We will definitely recommend friends, family and colleagues (and we already have done so), to visit Downtown Hyundai when looking for a new or used car, and to ask for David. Thank you. cavet emptor Please please and please read this before you commit to buying a car from this dealer especially if you have to deal with the sales guy who I will cal Please please and please read this before you commit to buying a car from this dealer especially if you have to deal with the sales guy who I will call Mr. C & sales manager Ms. S (what a disastrous team). They have the worst customer service skills I have ever experienced (you can make it work to your advantage though because their sloppiness worked out for me in the end). Reasons not to buy from them: - They won't let you take the vehicle for a test drive on the highway - customer service is terrible after you commit to buying, before then they suck upto you- offer you water/coffee The bad experience started on the day I was to pick up the car I was interested in. I was picked up from work by (close to union station) one of downtown hyundai employees. On getting to the dealership I was informed that they couldn't finish up the minor fixes they had agreed to on the purchase agreement and I would have to bring it in another day (something they could have told me about over the phone). I told them i would have appreciated it if they requested a day or even an extra week if they needed it...I don't want to drive over 25 km one way for something they considered minor. Long story short, the sales guy - Ceasar tried to force me to take the car that day. 30 mins after arguing back and forth, he realized that I wasn't going to take the car, he offered I come back for it another day, which was fine with me. So I asked them to take me back to my workplace or GO station (whichever is easier for them) as I'm not familiar with how to move around in Toronto plus it was a cold rainy night too (wasn't even properly dressed for the weather since I thought I was driving home). I was totally shocked that they refused to especially when it was their fault they screwed up. Sandy the manager wasn't any better than her subordinate Ceasar...she literally told me being dropped off wasn't part of the deal, which I was quite aware of...being picked up from my office wasn't either but a courtesy thing on their part. She gave me option to opt out of the deal if not happy and that's what I did with a full refund of my deposit. That's how you get treated by this dealer when you spend about 15k cash. They give dealers bad name because after that ordeal I promised not to deal with them. Best part was it led me to a better dealer - auto sales depot and I got a 2015 model for same price I would have paid to downtown hyundai for 2013 that has 30+k. Ended up with a 2015 with only 7K on it from auto sales depot, to further reassure me there's nothing wrong with the car, auto sales depot took my car to my mechanic to check it out for me. When the mechanic complained about a minor thing, auto sales depot fixed it and took it back to my mechanic without any deposit (because it was too good to be true I even pulled a carfax on it). Thank God for the sales manager & sales guy terrible job- would never want anything to do with them despite the fact I was offered free oil changes by another employee, which I think it is a slap on the face...who would want to deal with them after all that horrible experience??? Service has never been great and their prices are what you would expect from a dealership. Truthfully I've used them because I'm close by and it's easy to drop off my Santa Fe there. That said, over the past several years everything about the dealership and service centre has gotten worse. Took my 2010 Santa Fe in to have the starting system looked at. It was often clicking several times before actually starting up and this wasn't a battery issue since it was doing this with both the original battery and the replacement battery. I phoned several days ahead and booked a time to take the car in. It sat in the lot for much of the day before they even looked at it. Why schedule anything if it's simply going to sit in the lot and not get looked at??? Awful service. Awful atmosphere. Awful all-around experience. Take your vehicle somewhere else... anywhere else! The vehicle was sold with a certified safety and a guarantee that the car was in working condition and free of problems. When I took possession of the vehicle several problems were detected. Downtown Hyundai would not fix the problems or compensate me to get them fixed. Some of the issues were major issues. This is the worst dealership I have ever dealt with and would never buy another car from them. I would not recommend this dealership to anybody. More
(Service) Check your bill before committing a payment I had my car in for a simple oil change whose bill should have been around $70 (synthetic, 5W30) Instead I was billed $98 tax in. Flaws I found:L I had my car in for a simple oil change whose bill should have been around $70 (synthetic, 5W30) Instead I was billed $98 tax in. Flaws I found:L - $15 charge for a 'Vehicle inspection report' I did NOT ask for. Checks on tire pressure / lighting / horn / windshield...I can do these myself my god. What is funny though, when I talked about the oil change cost to the service staff she replied "It will be close to $100". My initial impression was that they jacked up the oil change pricing - NO IT WASN'T THE CASE. I would have refused this check if I knew they were going to do it (which wasn't even needed at all) - I have an engine with 5W30 engine oil recommendation on my manual AND the oil cap. They decided to use 5W20 anyways and tell me "Hyundai only supplies 5W20 or 5W40 only after I asked. They are the experts and you shouldn't have any problems". You guys were a lot better 2 years ago. I probably won't consider coming back. More
Dealt with Julie which seemed okay until I got the bill. I brought three coupons which were mailed to me by Hyundai. I guess if you use coupons, they make sure that they sell a lot to you. One was for Coo I brought three coupons which were mailed to me by Hyundai. I guess if you use coupons, they make sure that they sell a lot to you. One was for Coolant Flush and Fill, One for Front Brake Service and one for Timing Belt replacement. I was home when they were working on my car and I get a phone call. Julie asks for the okay to go ahead with the brake work. I say yes. She never says they are going to replace the rotors. I would have said NO WAY. I only have 78,000 km on my car and I baby it. I don't brake hard when coming to a red light or Stop Sign. I slow down with proper anticipation of necessary brake application. I believe the disc brake pads probably need replacing so that was okay. I'm sure the rotors could have been "machined" and that they weren't too thin. I even told Julie before any work started that a Hyundai Service Manager, told me, don't let them replace the Tensioner. He said they never wear out. Of course they replaced it at $154.65. The coolant Flush And fill is another $90. I don't know if that is fair or not. I just think $1,200 is too steep for these three services. More
I took my vehicle to Downtown Hyundai for a routine service, actually the second time to this dealership. Both time greeted by Rob, nice enough guy, very knowledgable and willing to explain certain co service, actually the second time to this dealership. Both time greeted by Rob, nice enough guy, very knowledgable and willing to explain certain concepts. However, during one of the conversations between Rob and myself, the repair guy (Mike) who was actually doing the work on my vehicle walks into the reception area and decides to involve himself in an on-going conversation. Worse of all, he was rude and condescending to me. Rob tried to smooth things over by doing an introduction. Too late.....damage was done. Overall, the experience was ok, however, I woluld suggest that the repair staff receive some sort of customer service training if they are expected to interact with clients. More
